Finally a Washer AND Dryer.
Sometime in May, our washer quit draining. It was frustrating. And when it began to give out more frequently, M & I needed to discuss a new one. On a whim, we went to Sears just to look. We were debating the cost of repairs on the old one vs. the price of a new one. All that balanced with the potential decrease in our water bill. We bought a set. We LOVED the set. But, they were only able to deliver the Washer. It came on June 5th. Our dryer was scheduled for the 20th. Then the 24th, then the 26th, then the 29th...and just Saturday I received a call that our dryer wouldn't be available until July 16th!!! I was loosing faith that we'd ever have a matched set. We went in to the local store. They just happened to have a BLUE set in the store. They could pick up the White Washer and our old dryer and we've have a SET...just like that. Only could it really be so easy?!? They came this morning...and tested everything...it all worked, so they left. The delivery man placed the 'owner's manual' conveniently over a 5" scratch that had been touched up with the wrong color paint! Seriously! I just want a Washer AND a Dryer without drama. We worked out a deal for a store gift card and they're picking up a year's worth of extended warranty. I think I still need to call tomorrow about a plastic piece that seems to be falling off. What has happened to appliances these days. They seem to be sparkly, but where's the reliability? Our old Washer/Dryer set was 7 1/2 years old. Granted with 3 babies...I did a LOT of laundry. But, our fridge is nearing 21 years old. I'm almost scared to get a new one that might look pretty and have fancy features...but won't work. What are your appliance woes?

We've had no appliance woes. Well... I don't like the long, across the entire front of the bottom rack utensil basket on our new dishwasher, but live and learn.
I may be jinxing myself, but we haven't had any. We have been very lucky in the fridge is 17 years old and still working. The washer was 15 years old before being replaced with a front load. The dryer was the reason we got new, the thing kept marking our clothes with a brown "burn" mark. It was as old as the washer.
The rest of the kitchen is only 10 years old, so who knows what will happen with them. Although, the dish washer is having pieces break. Eek! Cross fingers now.
We bought a new range a couple years ago. We'd done our research and figured out exactly which one we wanted. Finally got it and absolutely detested the thing. Couldn't use our nice pots and pans with the thing (something about the aluminum), couldn't clean it with anything other than a specific cleanser, the oven never cooked anything evenly and constantly smoked...just one thing after another.
That's the only appliance we've really had a problem with, though. (knock on wood)
I will never, ever buy an appliance from sears again... nothing but trouble!
I'm glad you got it worked out. It's so hard to be without a washer and dryer!
irons are the bane of my existence... in my adult life, i have owned 7 of them. the most recent one died a sudden death on sunday. it was only 15 months old - you know - just past the warranty phase.
the dishwasher sometimes does the floor washing as well... okay - it leaks and i clean it up thereby giving me a clean kitchen floor. i like it best if it does this on the week that the cleaning lady doesn't come.
We share a coin-op washer and dryer with three other households. We don't have a dishwasher, unless you count me. It starting to breakdown cause there is a belly in the way.
But my vacuum I bought in 1997 and as long as I keep it clean, I've never had a problem.
