California Quail!

As we finish up our 2008-2009 states study, we spent 2 weeks on California. Here's 7 drawing our state bird and flower.

I found this drawing somewhere on the internet...but I can't remember where it came from. I gave him a few outlines to start with. He used a set of staedtler pens and chose different weights for outlines and details. I did fill in the glazing mullions on the greenhouse because he said that would be too hard. Then he colored with watercolor pencils.

And here's the mostly finished piece. 7 ran out of steam with the leaf boarder. But I could care less. He did a great job blending colors. And this project was a true act of patience...this took him 3 hours.
