4, 6, & 7

This is another project I did with the kids art class. I used this idea from Art Projects for Kids, but I had the kids use warm and cool colors. Some of the younger kids didn't quite get this, but I love the 7 in the upper right corner. This isn't all the work...there are 15 kids.



I used a color wheel to start the lesson and talked about primary colors, secondary colors, and warm & cool colors. I showed them the De Muth artwork, The Figure 5 in Gold. I made sure to read them the poem too. Then they traced the number for how old they are, and colored inside/outside with warm/cool colors.

The most special part of this lesson came the next week. One girl brought this in to show me. She started another one at home all on her own. How sweet is that?!
