My Knee!
I know that some of you have been praying for my knee…and I wanted to say thank you. I saw an orthopedist today, and finally have an update. I fell July 12th. This Thursday will be 9 weeks. I had x-rays, but what I’ve damaged doesn’t show up on an x-ray. It’s the medial meniscus. I had a cortisone shot…and that’s where things got interesting. There was a mistake…and the nurse used iodine to clean my knee before they drained the fluid and gave the shot. I didn’t see all this happen because I was lying down. The Dr. walked out of the room…and the nurse stayed with me while I let the shot settle in. When I sat up…I saw the orange stain on my leg. I’m allergic to iodine. Quickly there were 3 additional nurses in the room. I had to use my Epi-pen. Then in the commotion, one of the nurses that came in wiped the blood that was running down my leg…and I saw she had latex gloves on. I’m allergic to that too! She had just come in and hadn’t seen my chart. I guess I shouldn’t go to these kinds of appointments by myself. When you’re lying down, someone has to be watching. Anyways. With the shot, I should feel 90% better by next Monday, or when I go back, we’ll discuss my surgery options. I would appreciate your continued prayers. I’m not asking that I wouldn’t need the surgery, but a quick healing would be wonderful. Just, with surgery, M will have to take a week off work since I wouldn’t be able to take care of the kids for a few days. And there are many other details to figuring all of this out. On the upside: I got practice with the Epi-Pen as I'd never used it before, and after the surgery...Lots Of Knitting Time!

Kristen...continued prayers and good thoughts for quick healing for you.
Yes, I'll be praying. I'm glad you sat up and looked at your knee! Maybe if you have to go alone again, you should pin a big sign to your chest or your pant leg so that everyone will know that you're allergic. (That may sound like I'm kidding, but I'm not.)
Oh my -- how scary! I'm glad you're doing relatively okay wih all of this, and that you're able to see the bright spots of this ordeal.
Knees are so tricky. MrV currently wears a knee brace. I think he, his mother and his brother have gone through just about every sort of knee surgery possible -- what a fun family to marry into!
