Warshrag Addiction

I'm a year behind, but I don't really care. I've had the Mason-Dixon book for awhile and hadn't cast on for anything yet. I was going through some of my Gram's knitting supplies and came across a few partial balls of dishcloth cotton. I figured I had nothing to lose. I've already given the first cloth (this aqua one) to my Gramp, and I forgot to get a photo or finished measurements. I started another with different scraps. I think this one reminds me of a giraffe. Then, while I was out shopping for school supplies these snuck into my cart. What can I say, they were on sale...and I bought the kids favorite colors to make them washcloths for their baths. The denim color is for me. I could use something nicer to make wiping down the table after each meal more enjoyable. I'm using 6's and the pattern calls for 8's. I think it makes it nice and squishy though. I should try washing one...I hope that the shrinkage doesn't make it so that an 8 would have been better.

Aren't those cloths fun to make?! I was really addicted to them for a while. What I've noticed for dishcloths is shrinkage in the height. So, if you want a dishcloth to end up being square after washing, you might want to make it a little "taller" than square while knitting.

they're still cute even though they squinch up a bit in the dryer!

Hi KM,
I see we have a lot in common: sweet little ones, homeschool, Christianity, and Tammy! And...although I have visited your site before, this is the first time I've commented.
As to the books I am reading now...mostly "Great Expectations", but also Thomas a Kempis "The Imitation of Christ" and Francis Schaeffer's "How Shall We Then Live". How about you?

Hi Again,
I would love to have you pray for Janay and yes, she is going back. She is a good friend at church and I was in Africa for a couple of weeks with her at the same orphanage where she is based.
Wanna email me? Julie@socktopia.com

I mostly use 7's on cloths, and mine don't seem to shrink up to where I can't use them. You might try making them an extra repeat or two when you can, or adding a few extra stitches on the border to make up for it - that helps too! The ballband is gorgeous, by the way. I've not yet taken the plunge in trying that one, but I want to!
