We usually try to shop at the arboretum of the university down the street. Last weekend M took the boys and came home with this...
M has been watering these plants in their pots all week. There was weeding to do and removal of some struggling plants before these could be planted. Hopefully this weekend. I watched the local news last night, and heard that Riverside County (about 30 minutes from me) has been declared a disaster area by the Governor. All because of the drought. They only had 1 1/2" of rain in the last year! At least we had more than that. Anyways, we try to stick to plants that once established, can live with very little water.

Lovely plants! Wow - I thought our drought was bad. But only 1.5 inches of rain in a year?! That's incredible.
Love the idea of drought tolernant gardening. Those plants will look great. I hope you get some rain soon. btw, check my blog later...something there for you. :-)
