Here's my Questionaire...
1. How long have you been knitting? How did you learn? I first learned to knit when I was 10 or 12. My Gram taught me. She’s the knitter in our family. I did a few warshcloths, but I wondered why spend ALL. THOSE. HOURS. just to dunk your knitting in the dirty sink water. Then, I left knitting for quicker kinds of crafts. But tell me…is a 12 x 16 Thomas Kincade counted cross stitch with a million French knots quicker?! Maybe it just wasn’t my time. If only I’d known then that with practice the knits and purls would fly off my needles. I picked up knitting again when I was on bed rest during my 3rd pregnancy. This time I took to knitting like a duck to water. Then in March 2006 when my Gram passed away, I began knitting with obsession, as a way to grieve. Seriously, I have to knit (even if it’s just a row) every day. Knitting does wonders for my peace. It’s how I keep my sanity with 3 little ones home full time (we’re starting homeschool in the fall…so it’s not like they’re going anywhere any time soon.) And it’s how I will always remember the generations that came before me…and I. WILL. PASS. IT. ON!
2. What are your favorite yarns to knit felted bags with? I usually use cascade 220, because I get consistent results, and there’s a large color selection at my LYS...but I’m open to try other things.
3. What are your favorite needles to knit with? It depends. Addi turbos for double stranded wool items. Bamboo for DPNs (otherwise I drop stitches) And some old needles that were my grandma’s…they’re sentimental and I think it’s great that some of them cost 35 cents for a small circular or 75 cents for a set of 5 DPN…she kept them in the original package.
4. What are the last 3 bags you knitted (include URL for Yahoo! or flickr album or your blog if you have them!)? You can also link to patterns if you don't have pictures of your finished objects! Banana Hobo Bag, Ladybug bag (as a little girls purse in hot pink with lime accent, and in bright aqua with bright fun fur trim), Vintage Bubble Bag… I’ve only bought Pursenalities…so I started there.
5. Do you carry the bags that you knit, give them as gifts, or both? Both
6. What is your favorite felted bag that you have knit for yourself? My first one...a vintage bubble bag in Lime with Squiggle from Crystal Palace around the top. I'll post a photo if I remember to take one. That's a FO from before my blogging days.
7. What are your favorite colors? Do you like bags in these colors or choose other colors? My favorite colors…hmm…the rainbow. Seriously…if wildflowers come in that color then I LOVE IT. I probably wouldn’t like an orange bag though. Think Spring! And I love to wear denim, so that's probably a good choice for me too!
8. Chocolate: White, Milk, Dark, or not so much? Definitely Dark!
9. Coffee, Tea, or Milk? COFFEE! =0)
10. Do you prefer sweet or salty treats? What kinds? SWEET! =0)
11. If you went into Bath and Body Works and could only come out with one item, what would it be and what would it smell like? A candle…freesia
12. Do you enjoy any other crafts or hobbies? Do you collect anything? I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch, sew, quilt…but preschoolers, there’s not much time. Maybe soon…. And, I collect rocks. Just the normal kind you pick up outside…but I have rocks from every trip I’ve ever been on. I’d also like to start collecting patches.
13. Are there any bag patterns you have not yet knit, but hope to someday? Entrelac Market Squares Bag
14. What is currently OTN (on the needles) for you? Mitered Square Doll Blanket for 2 yr. birthday…have to finish soon.
15. What is your most recent finished object before that? Daisy Cardigan By Marie Grace...not sure if it's the most recent...but definitely my favorite.
16. What's cutest: Puppies, Piggies or Pixies? Piggies…and I really like the one here.
17. Do you enjoy reading? Books, Magazines, or both? Both
18. Do you have any children? (kid-kind or pet-kind apply!) Boy 5, Boy 4, Girl almost 2
19. What are some of your favorite yarns for other projects? I like washable yarns for projects…see #18
20. And for the final question, one I see debated all over: Novelty Yarn: Love it! Hate it! or It depends! It depends. See #6.
