I've been wanting to knit a February Lady Sweater. All the Ravelry photos make me want to be a joiner. I don't hang out with a lot of knitters, so it's not likely that I'll show up to an event wearing the same thing as someone. And if I did...I think I'd be excited that I found another knitter. I really wanted some great yarn for a FLS and since that was out of the budget, I decided to dye my own. Then I happened on a great deal. I got some Paton's for $2.25 a ball. I was torn between green and purple for my sweater, so I thought I'd test dye one of each and then ask what you think. Here's the green. I like it. But I wish it was darker. I think. Maybe if it was darker I wouldn't like it. This is Lemonade and Lemon-Lime KA for the CA and then Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow AmeriColor (similar to Wiltons, but in drops not the gel...I get this at a cake supply store).
This is Blue Raspberry and Grape KA for the CA and then Delphinium Blue Wiltons. I knew this would split, so I wanted to see if I could get what I wanted. I think it's more muted that what I hoped for, but in a sweater, maybe that's a good thing.
Here they are together with the flash.
Here they are inside with no flash...it's a bit dark, but I wanted to try to capture every angle of the color.
So, if you were me...or just if you were choosing for me...which would you knit the FLS with???
This green has been claimed by 3 for knee socks! She dyed this one herself.

Oh my... I'd want the green for spring and summer, and the blue for year 'round, all-purpose wear... Love 'em both, really!
I like the purple better outside, but the green better inside....
I would use the purple, but only because it's one of my favorite colors, and green is not so much.
My train of thought goes to what I would be wearing with it. If I will always be in jeans, I'd go with the green cause the purple will match too much. If I'm thinking slacks/trousers/skirts I would go with the purple. The green would be too playful. Unless you have a skirt with that shade of green in it.
Oh my. I think funny thoughts.
I just bought purple yarn to make a baby FLS. Maybe if we get together this weekend we could be working on the same thing. We'll both wear our monkey socks and put our hair in side ponies. We could be like, twins, you know.
Aghh. Funny thoughts go away! But seriously, kintting this weekend?
I'd do the purple, mostly because I'm a purple sorta person more than I'm a green sorta person.
Mostly, though, I want to knit a FLS, too!
Purple, all the way. Although I much prefer green.
i totally agree with free range chick. . . . i'd probably mostly wear it with jeans so i'd want the green so it didn't blend with the denim. both pretty, though! i've had the yarn around for ages to start my FLS, but my queue is so long. .. .
Oh,I think the purple/blue would make a gorgeous FLS! Can't wait to see what ever you choose.
I have to say I agree on the jeans comment. Darker jeans yes, faded jeans no. Green isn't my favorite (you pointed that out in my stash!) but you dyed a really nice green. It would definitely make a statement. Conservatively I'd pick the purple if I were knitting it for myself. But for someone else I'd say go for green!
WOW - I am trying to pick yarn for the exact same sweater. I know this will be a staple item in my wardrobe once it is done....
I'm going out on a limb and saying to make one of each. I have read that people like this sweater THAT MUCH.
I'd Spring for the Green, unless you think you'll be wearing it with black slacks or skirts. If it is the black you'd be heaing towards, I'd go with the purple. They're both beautiful. I want to knit FLS too. I think I'll frog my Greenjeans to do it.
GREEN! :-)
Course... I love love love Green....
