Stereo Update with photos and socks

Here's the photos I took last night. The blue things now have wires running through them. I know they go to the speakers...but I'm not sure what all the connections are for yet.

Here's the hole in the wall in the kitchen. The orange box will have a power/volume control. There's one of these in each room.

Here's my knitting chair, covered in an old sheet, dripping with insulation. My floors look like this. Or at least they did when I went to bed. By the time I woke up this morning, M had vacuumed.

There's holes in the ceiling like this. So far, M's only cut the holes in the living room. I'm trying to keep this one room at a time since the heat from the attic comes through if we don't get the speaker up right away.

Here's the box from the speaker. We actually connected 4 speakers this morning...but I'd already started this post. I'll take photos of those later.

And my Sanity Sock (rav link). The knitting that keeps me sane when my TV is in the kitchen and unplugged. When the living room lamp is on the kitchen table. My sock is too big. You can see a little gap here. I don't think it should be that loose.

If you have a Holiday IK 2007 and can comment on the pattern, it's Socks for Veronik. This is Collinette Jitterbug in Summer Berries. I'm using Addi DPN's in 0. I love the pattern. I even like the way the dark berry color is spiraling around my leg. I'm not sure if this...

...will block into this...

Those are the from the same shot, but one is stretched up. Will a sock block that much. I know I can get the vertical stretch in the length of the foot, but I'm not sure about the cuff. And where the sock is loose (see above photo), should I take out one of the purl stitches on the chart? Then the gutter between repeats would only be 1 purl stitch. I would CO 60 instead of 66. I think these socks need more width when they pull up higher on the calf. I wasn't going to do the 10 pattern repeats. I like a shorter sock.

And yesterday, I made a note on this sock on Ravelry. It's Rosa's Socks (rav link) by Grumperina in Austermann Step. I think I like this yarn better on the sole of the foot where it's plain stockinette. But, I'm not sure what my plain sock recipe is for my foot. I thought this pattern would be a easy one because it's just a little more thought than a 3x3 rib. It does stretch well to fit. But, is it so ugly that I would never wear it? Or, are these good plain socks that will hide well under jeans? I'm at the toe decreases of sock #1. These socks have been sitting like this since mid-May. It's a shame I haven't photographed them at all. Is that a sign that I don't like them?

hey! did you notice this is your post #222? :) i really like the jitterbug, but it seems a little big, maybe go to the 60 sts. i never block my socks, so i can't comment on the stretching.

That's great progress on the new sound system! I'm not a sock expert, so I have no advice for you. But I do think you should finish the ones you're not wild about. They will look great with jeans.

I would love to have speakers in my ceiling and around the house. Hang in there - it'll be worth the mess and trouble!

I made the Rosa's. I think that your problem is in the Brouche stitch. It is actually one stitch over two rows. So when you use a striping yarn, it ruins the stripes. I think that you should make something simple (stst like) with the yarn. Then find a more solid color yarn to make the Rosa's.
They were my first socks and I still love them. Dare things are shrunk cause I didn't know how to wash my socks yet. I still cram my foot in there cause I enjoy the pattern.

love the collinette yarn. yummy colours! not having had a read of the pattern, i will refrain from commenting on a solution to the fit issues, although i do agree that they look a tad loose...
odd question - what sort of insulation is that? silly me naively thought that all insulation was flamingo pink fibreglass!

I promise I will dig out my magazine and read the pattern over the weekend... wish I could do it sooner for you, but I think that it won't block enough to cure that gap.

My hubby would love to run stereo wires everywhere, and says he shall do so when we do the addition. Sigh. I think I'll need a cottage to live in while he does that!

Ooh that yarn is lovely! I don't have a ton of advice on socks (we all know I don't do so well), but I'm with you that the top might be a bit loose, unless you're going to wear them a bit higher up. It depends on how much that'd bug you; me, I can't stand slouchy ones, but my mom has to wear them loose. Looks like the project is coming along in the house! I'm sure you'll be glad to get your home back when it's over!

Wow 30 hours to stain - that's a lot! Good luck with all of that. I love the colors in your sanity sock - can't wait to see the progress.

I'm so far behind on visiting your blog. :-( Must be summer. Or Ravelry. I can't help you with the socks, but I love the yarn. As far as construction, oh my, i find that dust is STILL in nooks and crevices and it's been over a year for the bath and almost a year for the kitchen. And it always takes more time than anticipated, even more so why DIY. It will be worth it though. I loved your line, the kids/circus/swiss cheese holes. :-)
