8 has had STAR testing this week. That is our state standardized testing. They talked about making "dirt" during one of the breaks. So for our Earth Day celebration, 8 asked if he could make our dessert. We happened to have all the ingredients. I did help pull things out, but then he shoo'd me away so he could make this all himself.
Chocolate pudding. Crushed JoJo's. Sour Worms.

How was your Earth Day? Are you more green this year than last? I try to use my Stainless Steel cup for coffee as often as possible. We use refillable water bottles instead of buying bottled water. I have reusable bags for the grocery store...and sometimes other stores. I recycle everything I can. I try to reuse. I also try to buy local. I'm waiting for M's ok to compost. I'd really like to work with real worms and dirt. I hear it's great for the garden. I'm glad I could use the kids to touch the worms though...they're kind of slimy for me. Any tips on other things that would be easy to incorporate here?

I've been using the re-usable bags at the grocery store for quite a while now. In fact, I think you were my inspiration for that, weren't you? Seems I remember you knitting some...
Anyway, I'm glad to not be using all those plastic bags. Though I do get them sometimes. You know, cuz we need 'em for when we walk the dog. *grin*
Look at your young chef!!
We use reusable bags, have filtered water so there's no need for bottled, but I don't know that we're greener than last year...
What a great treat!
That looks so yummy!
I have so many cloth grocery bags (we would get them from TIm's work often because downtown they are pretty green minded), and I always forget to use them. I have to keep thme in my car nd tucked with my purse or it just flies out of my head. Err!
As for the garden, I always encourage the kids to go put any worms they find into the soil. That and I'm a big fan of ladybugs for pest removal. :)
Cloth napkins? We ikek bar soap to cut down on plastic containers and all the refillable containers (not to mention good eco friendly hand soap is pricey!). Cloth diaper (hehe, ok so that one doesn't apply to you anymore).
Sounds like you are pretty green already! Thanks for the tips!
Way to go 8! Dessert looks yummy.
