Sometime in the last few weeks though, we've decided on Rex. Like in T-Rex. Not sure why, but it works. We still call him Kitters, Kitty, and whatever, but if someone asks...now we have a name.
Rex has some strange behaviors. I grew up with 2 cats, so I know they can be strangely finicky, but he seems to take the cake. Rex likes to drink from the shower. He'll go to the master bathroom and meow until I turn on the shower...just enough to wet the floor, then he'll go in and drink. He's horrible at climbing onto the counters and trying to drink from our cups. He's even tasted my coffee. He's broken 2 glasses too. I think he's worse than the kids.
Over Thanksgiving we discovered that he LOVES whipped cream. Now, I know this isn't good for him, so I'm not feeding this to him regularly, but someone in his past must have. He comes running when ever he hears that squirt can of whipped cream. And today, he ate refried beans from one of the kids burritos. I didn't know cat's would do that!
We're still enjoying this furball. My only worry is that the kids love him too much. He doesn't have many hiding places in our house. And just in this week, the kids 'pretended' to give him a bath, but they really put him in the tub. He also climbed into the cupboard space of our kid kitchen...so the kids locked him in there. Poor thing. I hope our love makes up for the abuse. I'm doing my best to look out for him.

Rex is a beautiful cat! ...and yes, a little strange but their quirks are what make them a part of the family. I can't imagine our house without a pet!
He's beautiful, and I'm glad to hear another household struggles with finding the right name for a pet!
So, the kids treat the cat like he's another kid? I'm sure he's loving it!
Poor guy in the cabinet. I guess that comes with the territory when kids are involved. Glad that he finally has a name that fits.
Glad to hear he finally has a real name. And that the kids are still enjoying having him around. Such cute pics of them all!
He is gorgeous, I can just see him in an Egyptian throne.
I think Rex suits him. He's gorgeous! Our kids are the same way with ours. Right now, Fluffy is trying to get in one of our dresser drawers. lol Silly cat.
It's clear from the photos that your kids love Rex a lot!
Rex...yep, I think I like it. Aby cats sure have that counter think down. Reggae knows he can't go on the 'food prep' side but does that stop him when no one's watching? noooo! Glad he's adding fun to the family.
