On Mother's Day, M took the kids into the front yard to wash my car. And I got to rest on the chaise in the back yard with my knitting. I took the time to CO something new.
This Swiffer Cover is such a quick knit. I just used one yarn...and I like the way the colors worked out.

And it actually matches my Swiffer a bit.

But...the real reason I LOVE this...look how well it picks up dirt. I'm feeling green and trying to do away with disposable cleaning products.

My next project is to replace my recycled Trader Joe's brown bags with some string and fabric shopping bags. I hope this goal doesn't kill me. I'm usually coming home from the grocery store with 20-30 plastic bags...and the thought of that in our landfills is just killing me. But, 20-30 cute shopping bags...that could take my entire summer. And I have lots of other knitting on my goals list.

Wow, the swiffer cover works good, huh? Do you have a pattern link?
DUH - nevermind - just realized it IS a link... OY - long day!
Just stopping by from the DC swap... love the swiffer cover! I just qued it in Ravelry this past weekend, glad to see that it worked great! :)
You're a quick knitter! I've been working on my swiffer cover at the playground, and it's slow going.
Maybe I'd like to Swiffer (a twice daily thing at chez shedding dogs) if it was so pretty!
That is just too cool. I had a Swiffer once, but hated that I had to buy all those refills that just go in the trash. Maybe I'll try this.
Oh and I don't think you have to knit that many bags. You can put more things into a cloth bag then a plastic. And if you make them big.... you get what I mean.
Love the swiffer pattern. pretty, functional and you can make it from stash. Super. I love using the recycle bags but I always forget tot ake them into the store.
THere is a really cute bag pattern in the summer knitty.com that just came out - I can't wait to make it!
ITA with that swiffer cover, it really works great.
Hey...what a GREAT idea~ I need to make some of these...yes...what an awesome idea! :)
Kris :)
"I hope this goal doesn't kill me."
Even if they are cute - I think making 20-30 shopping bags would do me in. LOL
I trust you'll post a picture when you're finished. Dead or alive. Ha!
that is amazing! i'm e-mailing this post to my eco-warrior buddies.
